Dry Dock Shelter for NATO SSN special forces operations in 1/350 scale.
This DDS model will allow you to to display the DDS open if you wanted. Goes perfect with the Seal Delivery Vehicle
I've updated the model AGAIN! I've redesigned the hinge so that now you can open and close the DDS shelter. This will require a .4 mm plastic rod such as Plastruct sells to act as the hinge (the pin idea didn't work). I did carely open up the holes in the hinge on the DDS side to .5 mm. However, I left the door hinge holes as printed as they were more prone to braking when I was opening them up. Slide the plastic rod through the door hinge and alinge both sides of the hinge while you do it. It's a bit like threading a needle and is a little tricky. I then carefully put a very small blob of thick superglue on the top (thick CA so there's less chance of it wicking and locking everything up), and, after that sets, viola, working hinge!
Here are my general instructions for working with Fine Detail Plastic.
5/5/2018 CAD update: Added 2 drain holes on the bottom to drain out captured material reducing cost.
8/15/2018 CAD update: Added visual emphasis to the leading edge of the main pressure vessel.
