Fletcher-class Forward 40mm Tubs Assembly

A set of forward gun tubs for the 1/144th scale Fletcher model. These are meant to represent 40mm Bofors tubs installed in Bethlehem-built ships, specifically USS Heerman and her close sisters, but they could be used for other ships, as well. Just be sure to check your references as there were MANY variations and versions, to ensure that this set is correct for the ship you are modeling. Many ships had varying arrangements of stanchions and supports inside the tubs, so look for this in your references.

 

The 40mm bases are corrected for sheer and camber, as are the tubs. For the bases, the two little holes astride the main  mounting hole represent the fore-aft axis of the ship and will assist you in orienting the bases properly. They'll be covered up by your 40mm twin Bofors of choice or you can simply putty them over if you so choose.
