RaceBone V2: Light and Fast
RaceBone V2 is the latest upgrade of the original RaceBone. New features are improved stiffness and an 1/8th turn engagement. At 8 grams RaceBone V2 is the lightest forward mount for your Garmin Edge 200, 500, 510, 800 and 810 available. It is also the highest performance mount in the ogee lineup, fully optimized for weight reduction and maximum stability, while allowing for one handed “on the fly” view angle adjustment.
Mounting your Garmin forward of the handlebar gives you better access for viewing your data at a glance and reduces the risk of incidental crash damage. With aerodynamically smooth profile supporting arms optimized across stiffness and weight, RaceBone V2 positions your Garmin on the centerline of the stem and below the top of your handlebar, reducing frontal area and additional wind resistance.
RaceBone V2 can be adjusted to fit all diameter handlebars, but is optimized for 31.8 mm. It also will accommodate alternative shaped profiles.
Small Parts
After placing your order, you will receive the RaceBone V2 printed part from Shapeways. RaceBone V2 requires two o-rings for added stability. Look for 3/4" O.D., 9/16" I.D. and 3/32" thickness o-rings in the plumbing aisle of your local hardware store. On the internet, look for a standard AS568-113 (zip ties not included).
Attaching the Race Bone V2
Securing the mount is accomplished by using two standard zip ties in conjunction with captured AS568-113 o-rings (see images). It is important to tighten the zip ties to the "last click" possible for secure positioning of the mount. The o-rings provide the necessary friction and compression for a solid fit.
WishBone: Light and Secure
Wishbone is a lightweight handlebar mount for your Garmin Edge 500, 200, 800, 510 and 810. A forward mount positions your Garmin’s display within the critical “normal forward field of view” and reduces the distraction of rotating your head down to see your ride data. Wishbone is the lightest and most secure of the ogee handlebar mounts at 13 grams and is suitable for mountain or road bike use. The two arm mount is secured with two M3 by 14mm flathead screws and nuts (not included).
WishBone fits all 31.8 mm diameter handlebars.
Assembly of Small Parts
Once you receive the WishBone printed part it is important
to inspect all attachment features on the part. You may want to use a toothpick to clear out any residual “build material”
(which will look like dust) that might have made it past the Shapeways technicians. Because of the precision and small size
of
the attachment features, it is necessary that all surfaces be clear of unwanted
material for proper function of the part. Important: Before you insert the nuts into the
part, as illustrated above, you may need to clear out any
loose or packed-in
build material from the cavity that captures the nut. This can be done with a toothpick. Once inserted into the
capture feature the nut should
align with the screw hole on either side. If the nut and screw holes are not aligned you can remove the nut (with
a toothpick) and inspect the feature for any loose debris that might be
interfering with proper alignment. Also inspect the eighth turn mount feature (where the
Garmin locks on) for any residual build material. Typically this is not a problem, but there
may be unwanted material packed-in around the locating features (protrusions left
and right), accessible from opposite the mounting side.
HipBone: Tough and Rugged
Put your Garmin Edge 200, 500, 510, 800 or 810, centered and in your line of sight with the HipBone. Forward mounting offers better reach and viewing access for scanning your ride data on the fly. Light and stiff the HipBone weighs in at 13 grams, and is at home on your mountain, road or commuter bike. See it in action here. HipBone on Vimeo
