This Universal Equinoctial Ring Dial 2 is a portable and self-orientating sundial. You can see how a similar dial works: http://www.sunwatchmaker.com/instructions.php .This is an improved version of a previous model:http://www.shapeways.com/model/132928/universal_ring_dial.htmlYou'll receive five parts unconnected and undyed. Follow these instructions:1. Clean the parts with cold water and soft brushing to remove support material remaining from the 3d printing.2. Dip the parts in cold tea for a couple of hours. Holes will get more dyed because of the support material trapped in them. The slider part doesn't have marks, but with the dying will get as yellowish as the other parts.3. Paint with black ink the marks. Let dry the ink and then remove it with a wet sheet. This way, ink only remains in the marks. In the photo the slider and some zones of the rings weren't inked so they maintained the yellow tone because tea dyes all no flat surfaces. The hour ring has marks on both sides, but only one needs to be dyed.4. Enter the slider with a little pressure through the slit of the central (month) bar. It's only possible over June and July marks. Then move the slider to the desired month and day mark. Each mark represents two days.5. Deform lightly the meridian ring (the bigger one) in order to insert the hour ring. Be sure that both rings have their dyed faces on the same side when in folded position.6. Deform again the latitude ring to put the central bar in position. Check the photo for the right orientation.7. Finally, insert the eyelet through the "jasolo fecit" part of the meridian ring and displace it to the latitude value of your location. To improve the sliding of the eyelet, you can clean the path with a stick before the insertion (again the support material). You can purchase the individual parts in case you need any replacement:- Meridian ring: http://www.shapeways.com/model/185486/universal_ring_dial_2__meridian_ring_part_.html- Hour ring: http://www.shapeways.com/model/185480/universal_ring_dial_2__hour_ring_part_.html- Central Bar: http://www.shapeways.com/model/185737/universal_ring_dial_2__central_bar_part_.html- Slider: http://www.shapeways.com/model/165846/universal_ring_dial_2__slider_part_.html- Eyelet: http://www.shapeways.com/model/185479/universal_ring_dial_2__eyelet_part_.html

Sundial based on the "chain" design of the equinoctial sundial at St Katharine Docks (London). Chained Sundial shows the time using the shadows of the numbers over the central cylinder, instead of the shadow of a central bar (gnomon). The central cylinder must point to the north/south when used on the northern/southern hemisphere. This design doesn't work on the tropics.

Wire mesh whose contour is your head profile at 1:1 scale. Just (1) take a side view head photo,(2) limit the extension of the profile and(3) indicate a reference for the scale. The only limit is the max. size available for the chosen material.Next, the three steps in detail:1) Avoid low resolution and bad focused images. It's better to make the photo with the zoom/tele, filling all the frame with the head. No glasses (they won't be modelled and hide part of the nose) and lips closed (teeth aren't very artistic).2) Crop the image to know the limits you want for the profile. They should be a point in the forehead and other in the chin/lower jaw. Or, instead of cropping, you can paint over the image to mark those points. Also you must indicate in the form the minimum and/or the maximum diameter of the object. The only limit is the max. size available for the materials: Strong&Flexible (23x18x31cm). So I'll keep you informed about the necessary changes and I'll ask for your approval.3) To know the real dimension of your profile there are many methods. You can put a ruler over your sideburn/ear when making the photo. You can also use another object as you indicate its dimensions.

Ima Ring is a thumb ring and a sundial at the same time. The name comes from the japanese kanji "ima" engraved on the ring, which means "now". It has two holes and two scales to show the hour during spring-summer and autumn-winter. When working as sundial, it can be placed on a horizontal surface or suspended from a chain. This ring has been tested successfully with Frosted Detail material. Its internal diameter is 2 cm and the hour lines correspond to latitude 41º N. Depending on the interest, I could make this model personalizable: diameter, latitude and engraving.

Warning! This is a working prototype that needs some improvings (smoother borders, less width). The final version will be a customizable item where you'll be able to select the diameter, the texture and the location (for the sundial). Also, due to the roughness of this material, applying a lacquer is recommended. This stylish bangle works also as a sundial just putting it on a table or hanging it. It has two holes and two graduated scales for the hours: Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter. The two indentations between the holes allow to hang the bangle using a chain or cord. In the other extreme, the surface has some protuberances for getting a stable position when the bangle is put vertical on a table.

Candlestick for 13mm (0.5") diameter and 10cm (4") tall or shorter candles. For a design suitable for lit candles, check this better design:http://www.shapeways.com/model/146093/candlestick_loopetal_13_t.htmlThis candlestick alone, without a candle, is perfect as a decorative object. Because of the low thickness of this design, the available materials have low temperature resistance, so you must not use this candlestick with a lit candle. Also, the materials are light, so the candlestick can overturn easily when used with an unlit candle.
