As mentioned, I used to make amulets very much like these by hand with bronze metal clay back in 2014 after my spouse surprised me with a kit. I loved making them, but hit a point where I really needed a better kiln. However it just wasn’t financially feasible at that time to have a decent quality one imported to where we live. It turned out to be a good thing I didn’t invest in one as it was discovered in 2016 that I have brain cancer. This is still a serious ongoing health concern and the most recent development has been the considerable loss of motor control and function on my left side. (And to make matters worse I’m left-handed.) So even if I had a good kiln, I wouldn’t physically be able to make any amulets at the moment. Then I discovered Shapeways! I can still happily control a mouse with my right hand and develop my product models. I also love that this venue allows me to offer my items in different materials and finishes - something I couldn’t really do when I was working exclusively with bronze metal clay. The price point is lower for my buyers too, and since I’m not making and baking each one by hand, it’s much faster and easier for all involved. Designing these has proven to be a wonderful way to keep myself occupied and it allows me to be genuinely productive again. (Receiving a little payday every now and then is quite nice too. :P) It’s very satisfying and I’m delighted with what I’m able to offer thanks to Shapeways.
Anyways, that’s my “shop story”! I hope you enjoy my products as much as I enjoy making them.
