Product Description
These are replacement landing gear rings (not whole landing gear assemblies!) for the Bandai 1:72 "Perfect Grade" (PG) Falcon model. The ones included in the box are one of the few imperfect parts in the whole kit. Because of limits to the injection molding process, the kit rings lack the correct holes/perforations on the sides - just the top.

This set has five separate rings. They're not joined by sprues, so you don't have to run the risk of accidentally damaging a ring when you cut it off the sprue. But this option costs more than the sprued parts. If you'd like a less expensive option - the five rings sprued together as one part - I have that as an option as well.

These 3D prints are modelled as closely as possible after the original blueprints, set photographs, and screenshots. And so they include holes on both the top and sides. The hole widths and positions should also match those on the original Falcon set - they didn't just have a bunch of same-sized holes around the disc!

Note that there's an obscure ANH/Episode IV versus ESB/Episode V difference here. In ANH the deepest slots in the disc were set at 45° relative to the side of the ship, whereas in ESB they were set at 90°. Since the Bandai 1:72 PG Falcon is based on the ANH ship, I've obviously set these at 45 degrees.

If you want them at 90° for an ESB Falcon, you would need to do some filing, and then the side perforations wouldn't be correct. You would also need two more landing gear legs and associated boxes, of course.

Note that the rear pairs of discs are handed, so be sure to check the image above when installing if you want to be 100% accurate. Also, because of the small size of the parts I naturally had to thicken some areas slightly to make them printable. Even so, they are really fragile since they're as close to scale as is printable - handle with care! They are also designed to fit snugly, but may require a slight bit of filing to fit properly. This will require a very fine cylindrical needle file. The parts are not available in the lower resolution printing process, because the price difference between low and high (for this particular set) was basically nothing.

Please read the following if you're interested in this item.

These accurizing parts are not mass-market commercial products. I made them for my own use, and have put them here in case they're of interest to someone else. Possibly you, since you’re reading this.

These are components for the serious model maker who wants to build a more accurate miniature. They require finishing. If you don't want to trim, file, sand, and glue, then these aren't the parts you're looking for!

The parts are tiny, and easily broken. They push the limits of today's 3D printers. The detail in the digital previews is all there, but it won't always be visible at the miniscule sizes that this scale requires!
