The 3D printed Strandbeests continue to evolve and adapt to their environment. The latest generation, Animaris Geneticus Bellus
, has grown more elegant and efficient. It features optimized joints and slimmer legs resulting in a smooth walking motion. And thanks to its compact size it thrives in residential environments, walking along tables and flaunting on bookshelves.
The mechanism is 3D printed completely assembled, and will work without further assembly right after birth from the printer. A Propeller Propulsion dedicated to the new Animaris Geneticus Bellus is also available, sold seperately, see: here .
A few tips to consider:
- For a smooth walking motion do not push down, but forward.
- Some surfaces work better than others. The legs require a little friction, and a flat surface. So for example: A rough table or floor, thin flat carpeting, or a thin rubber sheet.
- Occasionally, there might be a little powder left in some joints after printing, causing a less smooth walking motion. After the Strandbeest has a little bit of practice walking this should fix itself.
