Product Description
So you've got your Docking Bay 327 diorama underway. Falcon spaceship? Check - Bandai's 1:350 Vehicle 006 kit. Huge selection of crates and barrels? Check. What else? Ah yes - two gantries!

This model is fairly accurate, because the original set blueprints are available to the public, and I based it and scaled it on that. There are also some very good behind the scenes photos. However, because this model is an incredibly tiny 1:350 scale I've had to make a number of compromises to scale just to make this thing actually printable. In particular the vertical posts are notably oversized. I also shifted the proportions very slightly in an attempt to reduce the perceived change in size caused by the thick posts.

This version hasn't got any handrails. This is because they look quite thick and oversized when printed at the smallest size that Shapeways' processes allow. So I've made this version of the gantry, which simply has tiny holes where the handrail posts go. And then you can construct your own handrails using 0.25mm diameter brass wire. There are also holes for the narrow vertical posts as well.

Technically using wires isn't quite right, since the original movie prop used square cross-section railings and not round poles, but enh - who cares? The wire should look better anyway!

Please read the following if you're interested in these items.

These accurizing parts are not mass-market commercial products. I made them for my own use, and have put them here in case they're of interest to someone else. Possibly you, since you’re reading this.

These are components for the serious model maker who wants to build a more accurate miniature. They require finishing. If you don't want to trim, file, sand, and glue, then these aren't the parts you're looking for!

The parts are tiny, and easily broken. They push the limits of today's 3D printers. The detail in the digital previews is all there, but it won't always be visible at the miniscule sizes that this scale requires!
