Product Description
So I've spent crazy amounts of time researching the various boxes, barrels, and crates seen in the Falcon's hold sets used in Episodes IV (ANH) and V (ESB). Mainly because other detail sets available out there for the De Agostini Falcon model are either incomplete, contain stuff not seen in the film, or are a mix of Episodes IV and V.
The hold detail sets
I've designed five separate sets for your model-making delight.
Basically set A consists of the Episode V floor barrels and crates, set B contains all the boxes and things on the aft wall shelving in Ep V, and set C contains the stuff on the forward shelves in Ep V. Set D combines all three into one big mess. Finally, there's set E, which goes back to the first film and consists of the floor barrels and crates from Ep IV. (the aft shelving isn't seen in that film)
I have included a photo of some of the boxes and barrels, courtesy model builder AnneMarie Timmers. However, note that NOT ALL THE ITEMS IN THE PHOTO ARE INCLUDED IN THIS SET! This set includes ONLY the barrels and boxes on the floor!
How accurate are they?
These detail parts are designed to match the excellent Doublefire hold, which is the best interior set available. (the Doublefire model was used to make the diagram above) The individual parts are also as screen-accurate as possible.
I say “as possible” since researching both the Ep IV and V hold sets is really difficult. There are no photographs or screenshots publicly available that show the entire set of either movie. I’ve had to pore over tons of images to try and figure out what went where, but there are some areas with no photo reference. Some details are only seen in one photo, and thus only one side might be documented.
Also, of course, a few things moved during the course of production - either deliberately to show activity of the crew or just continuity errors on the part of the filmmakers! For example, during the wide scene when Chewie is shown picking up a toolbox, the camera is actually positioned behind the removable wild wall. It’s therefore standing where nobody ever could in the fictional reality. And it looks like some of the details in front were moved around to look good for the camera.
So it's kind of an intractable problem, and all solutions are a compromise. Nonetheless, I think these detail parts are about as good as you can get, given what we have. And given the limits of 3D printing.
I've marked the diagram above with the areas of the hold that are known and those that aren't. Red dots indicate that the thing in question is in an area where no photos are available. (if the red dot is on the lower half of an object, it means that there are photos showing the top part of the object but not the bottom part) Blue dots indicate an object that's in different locations for different scenes.
What's included
This set is just the group of crates on the shelves and floor for the wall section that runs from the nav console to the door to the smooch booth. It also contains the barrels that will fit in the recess to the left of the oval-shaped wall detail. To install these barrels you will need the Doublefire hold set with my modified wall piece. (which I obviously recommend!)
Some notes.
Cutting the parts
To save money I've sprued all the pieces together. Since "fine detail" plastic is really brittle you have to be careful when cutting the pieces apart. Use a very fine sprue cutter/nipper tool, and hold the flat edge of the tool against the part you want to keep. Then you can snip off the sprue without damaging anything. Be sure to use the kind of sprue cutters that have two blades that touch at the same spot. Avoid the side-swipe or scissors type of cutters (eg: many Xuron models) since the sideways motion twists and can damage the parts.

These accurizing parts are not mass-market commercial products. I made them for my own use, and have put them here in case they're of interest to someone else. Possibly you, since you’re reading this.
These are components for the serious model maker who wants to build a more accurate miniature. They require finishing. If you don't want to trim, file, sand, and glue, then these aren't the parts you're looking for!
The parts are tiny, and easily broken. They push the limits of today's 3D printers. The detail in the digital previews is all there, but it won't always be visible at the miniscule sizes that this scale requires!

Some notes.
- The jug thing is only partially documented. There are photos showing a scruffy white enamelled curved top, with a conical vertical spout and two curved handles. However none of the photos show the lower half. I’ve conjectured that it was a cylindrical metal jug with parallel sides and a rounded base, but that’s pure guesswork unless another picture comes to light. Was it a standard thing in 1970s Britain maybe? Did they use such steel jugs for, I dunno, collecting used motor oil? No idea. It certainly isn’t a milk churn. I’ve tried searching online but haven’t found anything yet.
- Another point is that it changes locations. In the film itself it’s seen in the second bay from the left when Chewie picks up his toolbox. However behind the scenes photos show it in the third bay from the left.
- The two tiny round caps are meant to be painted white and glued into the small flat carry case that has two holes for the cap posts.
- The thing near the bunk that looks like a piece of 1950s test equipment had a whole bunch of lights on the front. None were lit in the movie, but I thought it'd be fun to add a set of holes for 0.25mm fibre optics so you can light it if you want.
