Product Description
For Empire, the Falcon gained a bunch of small red safety lights on the underside of its hull. These were presumably "don't hit your head!" personnel warning lamps. Which makes the moment when C-3PO, carried by Chewbacca, bangs his head against one slightly more amusing.

In real life these appear to have been made from PVC plastic sewage pipe vent caps that you see on building roofs. The exact product has not been determined to my knowledge, but there are still many such cowls or caps on the market today, though most tend to have more slots than the 8 present on the Falcon set.

Now, the 32" stunt Falcon model used in Empire and Jedi did not have such red lights, but many people like to add them to their De Agostini Falcon kits for that Echo Base or Bespin landing platform look. So I've made these parts.
I doubt there are many people still building this kit, which came out years ago, but I wasn't satisfied with the other safety lights that people have published on Shapeways, so I designed my own, as screen-accurate as possible.

Because we don't know the size and proportions of the actual caps used, making model replicas is total guesswork. Personally I think most safety light models tend to be a bit tall, so I initially modelled my set a bit short. But, in recognition that many people prefer them to be taller I've also made a taller set if you prefer.

What you get

This product contains two sets of mini Falcon safety lights for the De Agostini Millennium Falcon kit! I included two since you can do so without increasing the cost to you - Shapeways has a minimum set price.

Each set contains 20 lights. This 2 more than you need, but the extras are there in case of breakage.

One set is designed to accommodate 1.5mm optic fibres for lighting. This type requires 2.75mm to 3mm holes in the hull.

The other set is slightly larger and is designed to be lit with 2mm "tower" or "lighthouse" LEDs. This type needs 3mm holes in the hull.
