Product Description
This is a replacement cassette door cover lid for the Cassette Door Compartment of the JVC RC-M90 boombox.  This is a custom design and not identical to the original M90 lid in the way that the glass mounts.  Once mounted, it should look almost identical to the factory lid.  This includes only the plastic cover which mounts over the cassette door, does not include the actual door or the glass.  You will need to source and trim a piece of plexiglass acrylic lexan or glass to fit into the recess of the backside.  Note that this is a functional lid only, it is not cosmetically accurate in the finish as delivered.  You will have to finish it by sanding (if necessary depending on material) and painting it to match.  You may be able to purchase directly from us an already printed door and a custom cut plexiglass insert, contact us for details and availability.  Several materials are available to choose from.  Note that the smoothest material options are best if you want match the original finish.  While all material choices might be a good functional replacement, rougher (textured) finish options will require significant sanding, smoothing, painting in order to look good.

Actual photos of this door cover 3D printed, and what we did before installing it.  Check out all the photos, they will help you.

Materials:
  • PA12 is cheaper and stronger but it has a rough texture.  It is almost impossible to finish it to have a smooth finish.  Although you can sand it, PA12 is a tough material and will take tremendous effort.  Furthermore, sanding it will almost surely result in lost detail, especially in the area near the small window with the arrow.  Our recommendation is to use PA12 if you just want a cheap(er) snap in replacement and do not intend to try to match it to the original look.
  • Fine detail plastic is made of resin, and not as stong or flexible as PA12  but will be the closest match.  Straight off the press, it should be just about ready to paint.   Smooth fine detail plastic is the default as it is cheaper but "smoothest" fine detail plastic is better.

Tips:
  • If you are sourcing your own glass, make sure that after it sits in the recess,  the glass is flush with the rear face of the cover.  You will not be able to snap the cover on if it is too thick, so make sure to get the proper thickness.
  • Make sure that the door is completely finished the way you want it before you attempt to snap it on.  There is a possibility that you won't be able to remove it once it is on and this will ruin your day if you haven't done any work to the cover yet and it still looks "raw."
  • As printed, if you have difficulty snapping the cover on, STOP.  There are 2 small nubs on the backside.  They snap into a pocket in the cassette door.  You may have to slightly trim these so they aren't as proud.  You can do this with a small nail file.  Just take 1 or 2 small brushes with the file at a time and test fit.
  • Glass:  We had a plastic company custom CNC route a piece to fit into this door.  For simplicity of installation, we chose to make a single piece.  If you are doing this by hand, this will be hard.  You may be able to do this in 2 separate pieces.  Also, our piece was cut so the glass actually fits into the opening a bit.  This is more challenging but I suppose you cold just leave the glass flat behind the openings.  The choice is yours.
