Conion C100 (C-100) Cassette Door Insert, Custom Version.
* For Conion C100 boombox and it's aka variants, such as Helix, Clairtone, etc.
This is the pivoting frame bracket that is inside the Cassette chamber of the door. It positively locates the cassette to allow proper tape alignment within the chamber. This is a "custom" version which is the same as the original one except with the addition of locating pins on both sides to allow custom compression springs to be used instead of the factory original torsion springs. You can buy small springs like this from your hardware store, on eBay or steal them from your ball point pen (we tried it with pen springs and they do work but you may have to cut them to the proper length. See images on how the springs would work with this custom version.
We designed this to work with our Custom Conion C100 door, which has matching spring posts. It will work with the original factory doors too but if you use the compression springs (like in picture) instead of the factory torsion springs, it will be easier for the springs (depending on length, tension etc) to pop off since the pins will only be on the bracket and not the door. If you are interested in our custom C100 door, it is available in the store. If you are interested in the bracket of the factory design without the added spring perches, that version is also available in the store.
Material choice: Price varies depending upon material of choice. We recommend (default) professional plastic because we have made this part in this material and it works fine. You can also try shapeways "versatile" plastic which is cheaper and a bit rougher but we don't see any reason why it wouldn't work as well.
Surface finish: Understand that these parts, printed in nylon has a matte or rough (sandblasted) finish. It will not be smooth like the factory parts. It does not affect function in any way and once installed, isn't really visible externally unless you open door. It can be used immediately as received, but of course you are free to perform whatever treatments you feel is necessary to obtain the look you desire, including sanding, polishing, painting etc.
