Product Description
Kazimir Skharnov's favourite type of warship (by the way, he is not a character from ASoIaF, the picture is just a gag). This design is similar to a Byzantine dromon, a galley armed with a siphon for shooting Greek Fire. The spitfire caravel has a similar hull to a dromon, but a much taller sterncastle as well as the sail plan of a round caravel. Kazimir never liked the old way of naval warfare, in which battles were fought by boarding and taking control of enemy ships until all the ships on the sea flew the same banner. He preferred the much more efficient tactic of simply sinking the enemy ships. At the time, the vast majority of naval engagements were at close range, and very few warships had long range weaponry, so the spitfire, with its twin bow siphons, was ideal for reducing enemy fleets to ash.
