KV-1S

As a direct response to the complaints about the KV-1, a lighter and slightly smaller version was developed and produced in 1942 and 1943.  This version, the KV-1S, was produced in greater numbers than the original KV-1.  Although the armour is thinner, particularly on the sides, the greater reliability was considered to outweigh the diminished protection.  The improved KV-1S chassis was also used as a base for the SU-152 and KV-85 before the development of the IS tank chassis in late 1943.

This model is available in 1/100 (15mm) scale and 1/87 (HO gauge) scale.
