Product Description
This vehicle, rather erroneously known as the KV-2 M1939, is indeed a prototype for the KV-2, and a handfull were built in 1939 and used during the Winter War. It was largely an experimental self-propelled howitzer, built on the KV-1 hull, but with no hull gun or rear-facing turret gun. When the KV-2 finally entered production in 1940, its design was very different from U-3, changing the turret shape to make loading the main gun easier and re-stocking ammunition less time-consuming. In addition, the hull machine gun and rear-facing turret gun were put back on.
