Product Description
A three-masted, lateen-rigged galley that could be used by pirates and pirate hunters alike. The Adventure Galley, the ship of Scottish privateer and alleged pirate William Kidd, was most likely a square-rigged version of this ship. Oddly enough, most pictures of the Adventure Galley that I have found depict the ship as a galleon, which is an understandable mistake. This galley would have been in use from the mid 16th through late 17th centuries, and many were purpose-built as warships. They are quite fast compared to their contemporary warships, carracks and galleons, and this is the reason that pirate hunters favoured this design.
