Product Description
Pair of replacement ends for the Con-Cor Material Handling Car (MHC) in HO scale. These correctly represent the rib spacing and details found on Amtrak's 1400-series MHC I cars, in the as-built configuration. Includes HEP and MU receptacles, grab iron starter points and cut lever brackets.
To install, cut out the ends from the Con-Cor body and file the edges of the roof and sides to thin them out. Keep filing until the replacement ends fit inside the body easily. Align them carefully and use cyanoacrylate (CA) to secure them.
Optionally, use a #80 drill bit to make holes for the horizontal grab irons on either side of the coupler. This drill size can also be used to carefully open up the sideways holes in the cut lever brackets. Form these details from .012" wire and secure with a drop of CA. Use a #72 drill bit to clean out the ends of the HEP receptacles, then form the HEP cable loops from soft copper wire.
