Product Description
Set of 8 N scale Star 200BC strobe lights. Matches the style used by Amtrak since the early 1990s on their F40PH, AEM-7, and many other locomotives. Also used by other commuter transit agencies and other roads. Note: these come in a clear frosted finish, which is ideal for illuminating with LEDs from below. If you prefer, apply some clear gloss coat to make the strobe housing more transparent, but be aware that this may make the light appear less bright.
Update 9/7/21: Revised to fit mounting holes on Kato F40PH. You may need to shave off the molded bases to allow the strobes to sit down flat on the cab roof.
To install, first cut each part from the sprue and file/sand away any remnants. Mark the mounting location and drill a #74 (.0225") hole. If you plan to illuminate the strobes, drill the mounting holes all the way through the shell so that you can install LEDs below. Test fit the part and enlarge the hole slightly if necessary. Carefully apply a small bead of cyanoacrylate (CA) around the bottom edge of the part, then set in place on the roof of the model. Refer to prototype photos for exact placement.
