HO F69PH-AC Rear for Kato F40PH

Replacement rear section to convert a Kato F40PH into a model of Amtrak's EMD F69PH-AC demo units. Use in conjunction with the cab that is also available from us.

To install, use a razor saw to carefully cut the existing rear off the Kato shell. First, make a vertical cut from the roof down, following the molded seam behind the radiator grilles. Next, measure the side lengths of the replacement rear section and make vertical cuts through the sides of the shell, from the bottom up. Finally, use an X-acto knife to connect the vertical cuts by scoring along the bottom of the radiator grilles. File and sand the cut edges square, then dry-fit the replacement rear. Note: This part has been designed with internal cross-bracing to prevent it from warping. Cut these and sand them flush before proceeding.

After making any adjustments for fit, cement styrene reinforcement strips around the inside edges of the shell. Apply CA along the joint and align the rear section carefully before pressing together. Allow to cure fully before continuing work on the model.
