How long will it take before I receive a model in this material?
Production time depends on the size of the design and the chosen finish. If a model is larger than 56 mm in all dimensions the production time is 11 business days and 16 business days for the premium finish. For smaller models, the production time is 8 business days for unpolished, 9 for the polished finish and 10 business days if the model contains interlocking parts. The shipping time depends on your location.
How is this material made?
Silver models are fabricated using lost wax casting. First, the model is printed in wax using a specialized high-resolution 3D Printer. It is then put in a container where liquid plaster is poured in around it. Once the plaster sets, the wax is melted out in a furnace, and the remaining plaster becomes the mold. Molten silver is poured into this mold and set to harden. Finally, the plaster is broken away, revealing your new product.
Why is there a limitation of 6 interlocking parts per file?
For interlocking parts, we connect each wax part with a sprue and then cut and polish the sprue away after casting. Due to the intensive labor involved in every part we connect, we limit the number of parts allowed.
