3125 Scale Romulan KRT Fleet Tug with Klingon Pods

Among the ships that the Romulans bought from the Klingon mothball reserve were two old T6 transport tugs which they rebuilt into plasma-armed KRT transport tugs. The Romulans thought they would rather have another cruiser instead of the “useless cargo ships” but the Klingons insisted that their new allies must learn the virtues of tug/pod operations. The Romulans had only recently begun building standard pod-based freighters (having previously bought them where and when they could as they were warp powered and cheap) and had constructed their own cargo pods as they (like other empires) needed more pods than freighters. (Typical operation was for a freighter to leave an empty pod to be loaded by the factory or colony then pick up a fully loaded pod to return to the original planet. Thus at any given time there were probably three pods in the inventory for every one pod that was actually being moved somewhere.) The Romulans quickly learned that tugs were the key to rapid construction or upgrading of bases and wanted to buy more tugs from the Klingons, but the General War had started and the Klingons needed every tug they had to build forward supply bases. In the end, the KRTs could carry Romulan, Klingon, Federation, or civilian cargo pods. In theory, they could have carried Gorn cargo pods but this was never known to have happened. This shows the KRT with two Klingon pods.

The ship is available in a variety of materials. (Smooth Fine Detail Plastic makes an excellent cloaked ship!) Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
