Product Description
This sprue of ships contains the Lyran White Tiger Tournament Command Cruiser, the LDR Red Jaguar Tournament War Cruiser, the Orion Tournament Battle Raider, the WYN Tournament Great Black Shark Cruiser, and the Hydran Tournament Lord Marshal Command Cruiser.
The Lyran White Tiger Tournament Command Cruiser is the tournament version of the Bengal Tiger. The Bengal Tiger was the flagship of the dukes prior to the advent of capital ships.
The LDR Red Jaguar Tournament War Cruiser is the tournament version of their war cruiser, a typical war cruiser of the General War, with 90% of the firepower of a heavy cruiser at 60% of the cost.
The Orion Battle Raider (Assassin-class) was designed to replace the standard Pirate Light Cruiser (Raider Cruiser) as the heavy raiding vessel of choice. It was substantially larger than that ship and could, if necessary, stand in combat with a warship, providing cover for the ever-present Light Raiders. Many Battle Raiders were hired out as mercenaries to the various empires.
The WYN Great Black Shark is the tournament version of the Carcharodon Heavy Cruiser. The Usurper insisted that the design of the Orca War Cruiser be created in such a way as to allow for a “stretched” design that could serve as a command cruiser. The Klingons provided D7 engines for the ship. The Federation code named the ship Carcharodon, but the design was universally known as the "Great White Shark" (which is the same thing).
The Hydran Lord Marshal class and the similar Lord Bishop were the first combined-technology (hellbore and fusion) ships built. The mixed weaponry was subject to rapid destruction in combat once the ship started taking damage. The mixed weaponry allowed them to operate with ships of either or both types, and to provide the “missing” weapons when leading a fleet combined of one type or the other.
This sprue of unpainted ships is designed to fit on a typical 5/8-inch hex map or to allow more room on a larger hex map. (If used for A Call to Arms: Star Fleet, simply change the measurements from inches to centimeters.)
