3788 Scale Hydran Grenadier Local Defense Cruiser

The Hydrans are an unusual species that live on the far side of the Klingon Empire, along the edge of the galaxy. They are enemies of the Klingons and Lyrans, and were conquered by those empires at one point, only to drive the invaders out decades later. Hydrans breathe methane and live on cold type-S gas giants on silicate continents floating on liquid methane oceans.

Due to the savagery of the Hydran Civil Wars, the Hydrans had relatively few old Y-series Grenadier-class cruisers remaining, but a few were refitted to this design and used by the Royal Navy during the War of Return. Those that survived soldiered on for another decade with the fleet until new Lancer and Ranger production could replace them. The old Grenadiers were then used for local security at key planets. All but one of them (Trumpeter) were destroyed during the Second Coalition Invasion (during the General War), and that ship served out its time in the Old Colonies as a security ship. At least two old Grenadier hulks were refurbished by the guilds during the General War and used as local security ships around deep space colonies. This ship is a variant of the Fusilier warp-refitted cruiser. It can carry two fighters. Known names include Trumpeter and Cauldron.

This ship is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
