These are NSWGR kilometer posts that show the distance from Sydney, and are located on the Down (left) side of the running lines.
These posts were originally the mile posts that were presumably moved and renumbered to Kilometer distances when Kilometers came into use.
Distance from the rail and painting were the same as that shown on the old plan for the mile posts.
