The Avorio-Prassone balloon was developed in Italy during WWI but, due to its outstanding design and stability, was adopted elsewhere, including for Britain's Barrage Balloons. The 1:144 design includes a basket with observers, and the basket ropes attach easily into holes in the balloon surface, and the basket can be removed for storage. Smaller scale models have no basket. A conical mounting hole is provided on the bottom with reinforcement. Material drainage holes are present on the bottom (in front of the air scoops) to keep this hollow model's cost at a minimum.
