Oesterreichische Flugzeugfabrik A.G. (Oeffag) obtained the license for the well-tested Albatros D.III and improved on the design in several series of aeroplanes with increasingly larger engines. Series 53.2 used the 185hp Daimler engine (already an improvement on the 160hp Mercedes in the original), and the wings and airframe were strengthened, overcoming the main weakness of the original design. 45 Series 53 planes were built in two batches, the first ordered in December 1916 and the second in February 1917. They saw use in many Fliks on both the Italian and Russian fronts.
This plane comes in both 1:144 and 1:285/6mm/1:288 scales.
The 1:285 product has two aircraft, connected by disposable links.
