Product Description
The WYN Star Cluster stands as a huge beacon at the crossroads of the galaxy. Marking the point where the Klingon, Lyran, and Kzinti borders meet, the cluster itself was long considered uninhabitable. Surrounded by a dense cloud of highly radioactive dust, it was assumed that the entire cluster was saturated with deadly radiation. All residents of the WYN Cluster are immigrants from other species and empires.

About four years before the end of the General War, the WYNs decided to perform a trimaran conversion on their single Lyran destroyer. This ship had been brought into the WYN Cluster by Lyrans on the losing side of one of their civil wars. Such a conversion had been considered before, but the refusal of the Lyrans to sell a war cruiser center hull blocked any such idea. Late in the General War, however, developments made the conversion both possible (the WYNs were now building their own “fish ship” hulls) and necessary (the ship was badly damaged and would be out of service for a year anyway).

The result was known as “the pocket battleship” but its actual power was closer to that of a heavy cruiser. They fitted a fish ship center hull (from a war destroyer) into the center, and added third engine of Orion design. The resulting “Frankenship” was the most powerful until Charcarodon-class heavy cruisers appeared. The ship was fitted to carry two gunboats, which could be launched when the battle began to provide extra firepower and escorts. The ship could also carry two fighters in the shuttle bay, using whatever captured or home-built fighters were available. At one point it carried two Federation F-18s sold to the WYNs by Orion pirates who captured them. This ship is also available as a kit that needs some assembly.

This ship is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
