Product Description
These 14 Ton chemical tank wagons evolved from petroleum tank designs, built in the 1940s and 50s with welded barrels, rubber lined to resist the corrosive effects of the products carried and shaped to contain greater pressures.
The GWR had built 51 very similar four-wheel tank wagons between 1895 and 1911 for carrying oil, creosote and similar liquids for departmental use. These had basic top hatches with narrower top platforms and would be a straightforward conversion from these prints.
The end stanchions have pilot holes for tie and bracing rods, which should be made from handrail wire.
Two slightly different examples are included (Diagrams TSO38A and TRO32B)
Transfers for these wagons (and similar Arcton/Ammonia wagons) are available from Cambridge Custom Transfers.
