Product Description
The 17' 6" long, 10' wheelbase steel chassis was the most common design used on UK railways throughout the 20th Century, gradually giving way to longer designs as track improvements from the mid-1950s allowed higher speeds and axle loadings.
NOTES
This model represents a steel-framed tank wagon chassis, intended to complement my PRESTWINs and Anchor or Wing Plate Mounted tank wagons.
It will also be suitable for other rolling stock with matching length and wheelbase and is similar in overall size to the Tri-ang TT XT-10 chassis.
Basic buffers are printed within the chassis frame but brass equivalents could be substituted.
These models are designed for 20mm needlepoint axles and should not require bearings unless intensive usage is required.
If the wheelsets are at all difficult to insert, use a V-shaped file to deepen the guide grooves that lead from the bottom of the W-irons to the axle cups.
The model is offered in pairs (Choose LARGE) or quads (Choose EXTRA LARGE).
Preparing and finishing Smooth Fine Detail Plastics is described here.
