Product Description
In the early years of the 1900`s, Hudson produced car frames to three basic patterns: built-up, Continental and Bow Frame. The Bow frame would later become the basis for the famous Rugga design, but at the time of the 1915 catalog there were differences which included frame widths that varied by gauge and several different axlebox choices. This particular model uses a frame designed for 24 inch gauge railways with plain bearings (also known as Colonial bearings). This particular model of cane car was designed for shipment to colonies, with folding end racks that took up less shipping space. You may need to heat the car with warm water to loosen up residual support wax in the hinges of the ends but the ends are designed to be functional. This car is designed to use O scale 33" diameter wheelsets with 2mm axle ends; the bearings are bored to accept a section of 1/8" tube as a bearing. The axleboxes are a separate sprue and they can be mounted to provide either of the two standard wheelbases: 22" and 27".
This model includes four (4) cane cars and axleboxes. It does not include wheelsets, weights or appropriate bearing material.
