Product Description
This model is designed to represent the LA Metro KinkiSharyo P3010 Light Rail Vehicle. There are currently 235 of these cars. They are numbered in the 1001-1235 series.
This kit includes the A and B body plus the articulation section. The floors, couplers, and sideframes come separately as they are made of a different and more rugged material with lower detail resolution and much lower cost.
The windshield is meant to be cut from clear styrene and glued in from the outside, just as the windshields are on the full-size car. The cab side windows should also be cut from clear styrene but glued in from the inside. They are not flush like the side glass.
Scrub thoroughly with simple green and an electric toothbrush (I use a sonicare on mine) and a second srub under hot water before trying to paint. Due to the process in which Shapeways prints these, there will be some textured areas on the body which will be evident on the sides of the nose, under windows, and under the door opening buttons that can be sanded away if you wish to give a more flawless finish.
I've successfully used Allclad stanless paint over their black base coat on the sides and roof of these.
Tap all mounting holes under the body with a 2-56 tap before assembly.
