Product Description
The Lyrans are human-sized cats that bore a distinct similarity to Terran lynxes in both appearance and temperament. Bitter enemies of the Kzintis (tigermen eight feet tall), the Lyrans were staunch allies of the Klingons and enemies of the Hydrans as well. Like Kzintis, Lyrans were carnivores known to eat their captives on rare occasions. The Federation assigned each Lyran ship-type a "reporting name" to keep them separate. Lyrans were organized as a feudal society. Twenty-one counties each had a squadron of ships lead by a heavy cruiser; four dukes had dreadnoughts to lead the four fleets, while the king-emperor commanded from the capital.

This ship was designed at the same time as the Escort War Cruiser to serve as a large escort for the carriers of the Red Claw Glory class. At least two were built, but there could have been as many as five. (The Lyrans preferred to use the war cruiser escorts, but when you really need a heavy escort, you convert the next damaged ship to arrive at the repair station.) The records are confused in that one ship may have been lost and replaced by a ship of the same name, while another ship may have had three different names at different times (or it may have been three different ships). The Federation codename is Panther-E. (Technically, the Panther-E had the original escort software for the fire controls, while the later Panther-A had the improved software. The two types were identical except for that software and all Es were converted to As.) . The Aztek panels on the outer surfaces represent efforts to reduce the electronic signature of the refitted Panther-E and match it to the original Panther-E so the enemy could not tell the difference. Known names include Slashmaster, Bashmaster, Clashmaster (?), Killmaster (?), and Deathmistress. Reports of a ship named Obstreperous Mistress have been traced to an Olivette Roche screenplay and no ship of that name actually existed, but the Lyrans learned of the play and announced that such a ship did in fact exist. This is almost certainly a deliberately false report. However, it has been noted that it is notoriously difficult to prove something doesn’t exist

This ship is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
