Product Description
The ways in which oil tanks were secured to a wagon chassis evolved throughout the 20th century. From 1907, a standard design emerged which held the tank in place on a wooden cradle using steel hawsers wrapped around the filler turret. Forward and backward movement was managed by end stanchions which were braced using diagonal steel rods fixed to the chassis near its centre-line.
This N Gauge model is designed to fit the Peco NR121 10ft WB Steel-type chassis kit or similar. If folded along its centre line, the weight provided can be installed in the tank.
The end stanchions have pilot holes for 0.3mm wire bracing rods. A few twisted strands of electrical wire can represent the steel hawsers holding the tank and should be anchored near the outer ends of the suspension springs.
