Product Description

- original 8" batteries were replaced by dual 5"/38cal in May 1942 refit among others (CV2 Lexington would've received the same if not sunk during the Battle of Coral Sea)
- Sept 1944 refit bristling with 20mm and 40mm guns; forward flightdeck area modified and lengthened towards aft, 2x catapults installed, and breadth increase by addition of starboard blister.
- survived the war and was used as a test vessel in Operation Crossroads: nuclear bomb tests in the Bikini Atoll, Marshall Islands, Pacific
- note: aircraft crane forward of island superstructure not part of the final miniature
