Idea
The Flaurea family of designs celebrates the growth of plants and its driving forces. Petals are arranged at multiples of the golden angle. This simple rule unfolds into a fascinating play of close self-similarities and into a dance of perfect and broken symmetries.

Name
The name of Flaurea is a contraction of "flora aurea", the Latin words for golden flower. The gold here alludes to the golden ratio. The composition of Flaurea is deeply rooted in the wonders of the related golden angle the gentle power of which magically guides the admirable growth of the vast majority of our beautiful plants.

Why is the eyelet crooked?
It's not a bug - it's a feature! The colored image tells you why.
The set of eight petals is symmetric when depth is not considered.
The set of 13 arcs is perfectly symmetric.
Each axis of symmetry wants to have the eyelet - but the eyelet decided
to increase tension and beauty by balancing in-between both axes.

Fibonacci rules
Three of the arcs are simple, we have five pairs of arcs, there are eight petals, 13 arcs and 21 seeds. All of these are Fibonacci-numbers which are closely related to the golden ratio and to the mysteries of plant growth.

Like all of my designs, also the design of Flaurea is controlled by lots of parameters all of which can be modified to great effect and with little effort.
