NER D218 Pram van conversion

Initially part of the NER fleet of electric passenger trains for Tyneside.

In 1950s 4 coaches had extra central doors added to improve access for holiday people with prams.

These ones started out as d218 trailer third coaches which had beed modified in 1938 witha driver compartment.

Another coach was converted, this time one which had started out as a d221 motor third, and had its motor removed in 1938, but retained its driver controls.
