Product Description
The Klingons were always looking for ways to improve their fleet, and the introduction of the D5W new heavy cruiser design (about four years into the General War) opened the eyes of engineers to many possibilities, some of which proved feasible. The idea was to increase the production of dreadnoughts, which meant building something the size and firepower of a dreadnought (even if it were a kludge of random parts of other ships) without using the dreadnought shipyard. The WD5 “war dreadnought” added a massive structure and a second pair of engines to the rear hull of a D5 war cruiser. This gave them a ship with tremendous power but limited maneuverability. The huge added structure blocked the rear phaser arcs for the boom phasers and the rear cross-deck firing arcs for the wing phasers. These ships led short and exciting service lives. The Aztek panels on the outer surfaces represent efforts to reduce the electronic signature of the WD5K and match it to the WD5 so the enemy could not tell the difference.

This ship is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
