3788 Scale Romulan FireHawk-M+ Hvy Escort Cruiser

Romulan carrier group commanders were much impressed with the performance of the Klingon AD6 heavy escort cruiser and sought to convince the Romulan Admiralty that such large escorts should be provided for their own heavy carriers during the increasingly dangerous battles of the late General War. The Admiralty saw this use as a carrier escort as a waste, judging the existing SparrowHawk-M escort cruisers as more than sufficient for the task. Just after the Inter-Stellar Concordium started incursions into Romulan territory, the politically weakening Praetor Maxillius resolved a deadlock in the Imperial Senate when he agreed to allow the construction of such ships to buy the vote of a powerful house. The resulting FireHawk-M Heavy Escort Cruiser was very effective. The ship includes a cloaking device, nuclear mines, and the full aegis defensive fire control system. The FireHawk-M+ was produced during the late war period in the shipyards of a different Great House than the original, accounting for the visual difference. Known names include Caetra, Consul Regulus, and Loyal Guard.

The ship is available in a variety of materials. (Smooth Fine Detail Plastic makes an excellent cloaked ship!) Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
