Omni Scale Hydran Super-Stinger Heavy Fighters CVN

The Hydrans are an unusual species that live on the far side of the Klingon Empire, along the edge of the galaxy. They are enemies of the Klingons and Lyrans, and were conquered by those empires at one point, only to drive the invaders out decades later. Hydrans breathe methane and live on cold type-S gas giants on silicate continents floating on liquid methane oceans.

The Hydrans produced a combined fusion-hellbore heavy fighter, rather than two competing versions as in the smaller Stinger-2 /Stinger-H. This is a double-size fighter requiring two shuttle boxes. It cannot use launch tubes and can only operate from the large “true” carriers; for this reason the Super-Stinger was assigned primarily to bases. If assigned to a carrier, they replaced the Stinger-Hs (plus other fighters, depending on the number to be embarked). It was unpopular with pilots and the Navy because it was too slow for fleet combat, but this speed was no disadvantage in defending (or attacking) fixed installations, such as planets or bases.

This comb of fighters is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
