This bracket allows a 40mm fan to be mounted above the heat sink of an LSI 9207-8i HBA without altering the card or removing the stock pins that hold the heatsink in place. (Note that anyway the pins are't quite spaced properly for a 40mm fan. It may work, but it's a little dodgy, whereas this bracket is a tailored fit.) It was designed specifically for a Noctua NF A4x10 (e.g. https://noctua.at/en/nf-a4x10-pwm) but should work with most standard 40mm fans. Use of a cooling fan significantly reduces the temperature of the HBA in cases that do not have server-caliber airflow (e.g. when using the card in a desktop chassis).
This is ONLY suitable for 9207-8i cards (see sample picture) as the attachment points have been carefully designed for that exact layout in order to fit perfectly without contacting any of the components on the PCB.
