When
Idflieg requested designs specialized for night bombing, the
Allgemeine Elektrizitäts-Gesellschaft company (A.E.G.) responded with a designed based on the successful
A.E.G. C.IV with lengthened, three-bay wings. Flight testing showed the lengthened wings needed strengthening, so triangular struts were added in the center section. The pilot's machine gun was removed since it was thought to be a heavy extravagance for a night bomber. Two orders of 100 were placed, and the
A.E.G. N.Is started to appear at the front in October 1917.
This model features both crew members and six bombs on the lower wing. This product comes in 1:144 and 1:285/6mm/1:288 scales.
The 1:285 product contains two aeroplanes and detachable, translucent propeller disks rather than propeller blades. They are joined by disposable links to keep the price down, since single-part models are more affordable. You can break the links with nail clippers, wire cutters, or similar.
DESIGNER NOTE:
Models at scales smaller than 1:144 may no longer be available. Shapeways discontinued the material for which they were designed, and the newer materials require that each and every model be adjusted to thicken surfaces like wings. If you are interested in a particular model in a small scale, please let me know and I will prioritize it higher in the queue.
