Product Description
The 21'6" long, 12' wheelbase steel wagon chassis was a very common design used on UK railways throughout the 20th Century, used under mineral wagons, tanks and larger vans.
NOTES
This model represents a TT (1/120 Scale) steel-framed wagon chassis, intended to complement some of my own tank wagons. It will also be suitable for other rolling stock with matching length and wheelbase.
A choice of materials is offered, including resilient (but coarse) Versatile Plastic or (rather more brittle) Fine Detail Plastic.
Basic buffers are printed within the chassis frame but brass equivalents could be substituted.
These models are designed for 18.5mm needlepoint axles (eg Tillig 7.5mm or 8mm wheelsets) and should not require bearings unless intensive usage is required. (Versatile Plastic versions will be harder wearing).
If the wheelsets are at all difficult to insert, use a V-shaped file to deepen the guide grooves that lead from the bottom of the W-irons to the axle cups.
Basic NEM pockets form part of the prints, but these can easily be replaced with DAPOL NEM Pockets.
Preparing and finishing Fine Detail Plastics is described here.
