District Railway E stock
E Stock were steel-bodied cars built for the District Railway in 1914 by the Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon Company.
Thirty cars were built, twenty-six driving motor cars and four trailers. They were based on the earlier C Stock and D Stock but differed in that the roof was elliptical rather than the clerestory roof of the C Stock and D Stock.
Motor and trailer cars were based onsame body,as it was originally intended to convert cars from oe to the other. WW1 stopped further production , and F stock was built after WW1 instead.
Originally fitted with roof vents, which prooved to be too effective!. Subsequently removed.
C,D and E stock could be found in same train sets, and ran until 1950s.
Requires finishing off, wheels etc
Scale TT (1/100, 3mm/ft)
