Based on a drawing from a Victorian-era catalogue, this model represents a grinding wheel as might be found in machine shops or blacksmith shops. Made from cast iron with a foot pedal drive system it is fancier than would normally be found in most American shops outside of large machine shops or foundries, but was available by mail order throughout the British Colonies. The wheel is 24" diameter and 4" wide.
To complete the model, seat the wheel in the trough and fabricate a linkage rod from bent wire to connect the drive pedal to the crank arm.
