Product Description
The Vudar were a Subject Race of the Klingon Empire. Tens of thousands of Vudar served in the Klingon military as starship crews and ground troops; more were colonists on new worlds discovered by the Klingons. Because the Vudar had a higher natural resistance to radiation, they could be employed in starship engine rooms and on colonies with higher radiation than other species found tolerable. Because of higher radiation along the edge of the Galaxy, the Klingons allowed the Vudar to operate some small police patrol vessels to make sure these areas were not used by pirates, rebels, or other enemies. Over time, these ships ceased to carry Klingon guards in shielded spaces, and as the threats by pirates increased, these Vudar police ships became larger and better armed. During the second half of the General War, the Klingons hit upon a clever idea. They spread rumors that the Vudar had rebelled and become the independent Vudar Enclave, taking over several Klingon provinces along the galactic rim. These included some captured Hydran territory. (In reality the Vudar Enclave remained a part of the Klingon Empire.) The primary purpose of this deception was to convince the Hydrans to stop trying to recapture those provinces by declaring them “neutral territory of a separate nation.” The Hydrans were unsure if this were true, but it meant fighting on a narrower front and so they accepted the Klingon story. The Federation fell for it hook, line, and sinker and thought it meant that the Klingon Empire was on the verge of collapse. The Federation decided to concentrate on destroying the Romulan Empire, figuring that the Klingons were a lesser threat than they actually were.

Equal to the Klingon C7 or the Federation Kirov, this design was as far as the Vudar could push the limits of a heavy cruiser frame. They managed to push it to the point of being very nearly equal to the smaller dreadnoughts of the various empires, which was the point: to construct the biggest thing that could be built in a cruiser shipyard, leaving the dreadnoughts to be built in another facility that struggled to produce as many as the admirals wanted. The Vudar Heavy Battlecruiser was extremely fast and possessed an excellent phaser array for a direct attack. Firepower to the flanks, and particularly to the rear, however, was lacking. The captains of heavy battlecruisers were, however, far more interested in the target in front of them than the wreckage they left in their wake.

This ship is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
