3125 Scale LDR Java Tiger Heavy Command Cruiser

The Lyran Democratic Republic (LDR) began as the Dark Star County of the Enemy's Blood Duchy of the Lyran Empire. The ruling family was corrupt, and a revolution slaughtered the family and declared a democracy, but still loyal to Enemy’s Blood. The Duke decided to remove the democrats and install his second son as the new count, which would strengthen his rule as he would be able to count on his son's support. The adjacent Foremost Duchy thought it better if the Dark Star County became independent as this would weaken their rivals at Enemy’s Blood. Dark Star County eventually became fully independent, albeit only because Foremost protected it from Enemy's Blood. The LDR then made a deal with the Hydrans, gaining Gatling phaser technology in exchange for a promise to never rejoin the Lyran Empire. Their “smooth hull” ships reflect the cleaner lines of thought and lower maintenance support of the republic.

This ship is the Lyran Democratic Republic equivalent of the Lyran heavy command cruiser. The Lyran Democratic Republic’s sole command cruiser was upgraded to this design in nearly a decade into the General War, and then reconverted to an advanced cruiser two years later. It is of interest that the Lyran Democratic Republic was able to take their key units out of service for such conversions, but with all the surrounding empires engaged in a bitter war, the threat to the security of the Lyran Democratic Republic was limited. None of the surrounding empires could afford to add another enemy, no matter how small, to its list of troubles. Indeed, the Klingons, Lyrans, and even the Hydrans provided resources to the Lyran Democratic Republic in the late war period in an effort to buy its continued neutrality. These resources may have provided the funding and technology for the series of conversions conducted by the Lyran Democratic Republic during that period. Its known name was Independence (converted from the CA Independence).
