OoO Ring is a three-band puzzle ring that should not be too difficult to solve. It is topologically different from regular puzzle rings. Whereas conventional puzzle rings have each ring locked though one or more other rings, OoO Ring has one ring that is topologically disconnected. As shown on the
YouTube video, that ring can be pulled off with some force for the plastic prototype. However, the polished brass is strong, and the disconnected ring stays firmly shapelocked to the other two rings.
The puzzle has a nice difficulty level. Experts can solve it within a minute or even faster. The ring will still baffle novices, but they will figure out the solution as well if they have a bit of patience and persistence.
Whereas the
first prototype was a failure, this version works fine. The first version had the disconnected ring at the side. However, the
Borromean-rings style of weave prevented the rings from coming apart. So the new version has the disconnected ring in the middle, which solved the problem.
