Product Description
The Wantage Tramway was a standard-guage light railway which connected the town of Wantage, Oxfordshire to the Great Western Railway at its Wantage Road Station, 2 miles away in the village of Grove. Initially horse-drawn, the Wantage Tramway Company eventually acquired 7 steam locomotives and a variety of coaches to carry passengers to and from the town.  Goods traffic was carried in private-owner and main-line wagons.

NOTES
  • Five models are offered of designs which also operated all over the UK and internationally in the late 19th and early 20th century.
    • EXTRA SMALL - WTC coach No.1 was originally a horse-drawn double-deck tramcar built by Starbuck Car & Wagon Company of Birkenhead in 1875. This bodyshell is suitable for a Peco NR-121B 10ft WB Goods Brake Van Chassis with buffers removed and running boards reduced.
    • SMALL - WTC coach No.2 was also originally a horse-drawn tramcar supplied by Starbuck . This bodyshell is suitable for a Peco NR-121B 10ft WB Goods Brake Van Chassis with buffers removed and running boards reduced.
    • MEDIUM - WTC coach No.3 was supplied by the G.F.Milnes (formerly Starbuck) Company of Birkenhead in 1890.  This bodyshell is designed to fit a Kato 11-110 (or earlier 11-104) motorised chassis or a suitable N Gauge wagon chassis with buffers removed.
    • LARGE - WTC coach No.4 was built by Hurst, Nelson & Co. of Motherwell in 1900 as a double-deck electric bogie car and rebuilt for Wantage as single-deck bogie trailer in 1912. This bodyshell is designed to fit a Kato 11-105 motorised chassis. Alternatively an unpowered model can be constructed by adding a Plasticard floor and conventional bogies/trucks.
    • EXTRA LARGE - WTC coach No.5 was supplied by Hurst, Nelson in 1912. This bodyshell is suitable for a Peco NR-121B 10ft WB Goods Brake Van Chassis with buffers removed.
