Product Description
The Seltorians are an insectoid species genetically engineered by the Tholians to be their primary servants in the Tholian Home Galaxy (M81). The Seltorians operated warships to maintain the Tholian Will. After the Revolt, the Seltorians pursued the fleeing Tholians to the Milky Way Galaxy and (with Klingon help) set up a base to continue their prosecution of Tholian War Criminals. The Seltorian dreadnought is half-again as big as the Seltorian cruiser and was the heaviest ship in the Seltorian Guard Fleet that served the Tholian Will. While none of them served in the Milky Way, the Seltorian colony was building one of them when the Klingons realized that the Seltorians were the most dangerous thing in space and destroyed them.
The gigantic Hive Ship (regarded by the Alliance as a floating starbase) was only lightly armed (and designed for all-around defense, not attack), but was huge and could dock two cruisers and six destroyers or frigates internally. The Hive Ship is unique, with some functions of a base and some of a ship. Each of the docking bays can hold one ship; the front two bays can hold (or build, or repair) cruisers while the back six bays can hold (or build or repair) frigates or destroyers. By the end of Seltorian operations in this galaxy, the back two bays had been fitted to operate gunboats and fighters to help defend the ship.
The Hive Ship was built using the existing hulls of bulk cargo carriers that the Seltorians used to take the dismantled parts of planets and asteroids from looted star systems to a Tholian sphere for use as construction materials. During the Seltorian revolt, the Seltorians mounted massive batteries of web breaker cannons in the bays and when they approached a Tholian sphere to deliver the expected cargo they opened the “roll-top desk” doors to expose the weapons. These then disrupted the webs that held the spheres together, destroying the sphere and killing billions of Tholians in one blow. These “battle wagons” were the key to the coup-de-main that destroyed the Tholian Will in a single day as the Seltorians coordinated strikes against every sphere in the M81 Galaxy.
The small Hive Ship is about 3”; the medium Hive Ship is about 6”.
The ship is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
