3788 Scale Hydran Heavy Mauler Cruiser (CAM) CVN

The Hydrans are an unusual species that live on the far side of the Klingon Empire, along the edge of the galaxy. They are enemies of the Klingons and Lyrans, and were conquered by those empires at one point, only to drive the invaders out decades later. Hydrans breathe methane and live on cold type-S gas giants on silicate continents floating on liquid methane oceans.

The Hydrans never built maulers (that we can confirm) and if that is true, they never had mauler technology. Given that weapons technology tended to be copied from one empire to another (sometimes, and sometimes not) it was always a concern for the Coalition that the Hydrans might develop that weapon. There were rumors (floated by the Hydrans) that they had done so, but these might have been military disinformation for counter-intelligence purposes. It is also possible that the Hydrans did reverse-engineer the technology but decided not to use it. They would have found maulers useful in attacking the Coalition “Firewall” that kept them out of the General War for so many years, but perhaps their strained production system could not have coped. The model here, based on the Ranger/Dragoon heavy cruiser hull, reflects what such a ship would have looked like. The name Hydrahammer appeared in at least one of the reports circulated about a Hydran mauler but no report of
anyone actually encountering such a ship can be found.

This ship is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
